The foundation stone of the Barker brand of shoes was laid in a humble cottage in the heart of England’s shoemaking district in 1880, by an enterprising Northamptonshire boot maker Arthur Barker. Ever since, Barker’s hand-sewn shoes have been the first choice of discerning buyers who insist on buying the best. Only the most carefully selected leathers are used in the manufacture of every Barker shoe. The uppers are shaped on the last by hand. All the traditional shoemaking methods are still used today, including slow natural drying and hand polishing. This is why Barker’s English shoes have a unique quality to which no other machine-made shoes can hope to aspire. |
